Norris to Discuss State of the Economy at Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris (R-Collierville) will address the state of Tennessee’s economy on Saturday, March 28, at Vanderbilt’s Averbach Auditorium. Norris is a member of the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee and Budget Sub-Committee.

As part of Vanderbilt’s “State of the Economy” Conference, Norris will be a panelist with the Nashville Chamber’s Research Director, Garrett Harper, and Zhijie Qi of the Tennessee Department of Revenue.

The Conference is an afternoon-long symposium examining current economic issues at the local, state, and federal levels.

“I look forward to visiting the Vanderbilt campus and participating in the conference,” says Norris. “We face difficult challenges, but there are some opportunities for innovation as a result. I appreciate the opportunity to brainstorm with some of the brightest students in Tennessee.””

The State of the Economy Conference begins at 11:30a.m. and will last until 5:00p.m. Senator Norris will join the discussion during the 3:00 panel. Other topics of the day include: “The Politics Behind the Crisis,” “The Global Recession,” and “The Future for College Graduates.”

Senator Norris, a member of the General Assembly since 2000, represents the West Tennessee Counties of Dyer, Lauderdale, Tipton, and Shelby.
