NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris (R-Collierville) will be the special guest speaker at the annual meeting of Partnership Lakeland on Thursday, April 23. The meeting will begin at 7:00p.m. and take place at the First Baptist Church of Lakeland on Canada Road.

Partnership Lakeland is a political action committee dedicated to mobilizing citizens to maintain responsible government in the City of Lakeland. For the annual meeting, they have asked Senator Norris, a former Shelby County Commissioner and Lakeland’s sole voice in the Tennessee Senate, to speak on the importance of civic involvement, public service, and voting smart in local elections.

“I am honored that Partnership Lakeland has asked me to address the vital role of local government in our everyday lives,” Norris said of the invitation. “Especially at the state level, I see the ultimate importance of county and municipal governments all the time.”

Among his other committee and joint committee assignments, Senator Norris serves as Chair of the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR) which deals with many state and local government crossover issues. A member of the General Assembly since 2000, Norris represents the West Tennessee Counties of Shelby, Lauderdale, Tipton, and Dyer.
