(Nashville, TN 2/2/2011) A Tennessee State Education Committee has passed a bill from Tennessee State Senator Mark Norris that would implement a three year waiting period if Memphis voters decide to surrender the Memphis City Schools charter.
During the three years after the vote is certified, a 21 member committee would lay out a plan of transition. The committee would include members of both school boards and the Mayor of Shelby County.
The full Tennessee Senate would have to approve the bill.
