Leader Norris re-elected by Senate Republicans to a fourth term as Majority Leader

(NASHVILLE, TN), December 12, 2012 — Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris (R-Collierville) has been re-elected to a fourth term as Senate Majority Leader by his colleagues in the Senate Republican Caucus. The election took place as the Caucus met in an organizational meeting on Wednesday .

Senate Republicans now number 26 of the 33 members of the Tennessee Senate after gaining 6 new seats in the November election.

“I appreciate the confidence of my colleagues and look forward to continuing on the conservative course our constituents deserve,” said Leader Norris.

Norris was first elected Majority Leader in 2007. Last week, he was also elected to chair the national Council of State Governments (CSG) for a term beginning in 2014. CSG is a bi-partisan professional association which serves all three branches of government in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, with international affiliates in Canada.

In other key positions elected by the Caucus, Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey (R-Blountville) was re-elected as the Caucus nominee for Senate Speaker/ Lt. Governor and Senator Bill Ketron (R-Murfreesboro) was elected Republican Caucus Chairman.

The 108th General Assembly is set to convene on January 8.
