College Republicans at The University of Memphis will host Tennessee Senate majority leader Mark Norris for a discussion encouraging students to vote in the Nov. 2 mid-term election today.

The meeting will take place in room 342 of the University Center at 12:45 p.m. and will include free pizza and drinks, as well as t-shirts for sale.

Tyler DeWitt, president of the College Republicans, said Norris will catch up students with “what’s going on” in state and national politics.

“A lot of students don’t know that there is an election on the second,” DeWitt said. “He’s going to let them know who’s running for what, what’s going on in state government, and what they’ve got coming up in Spring, as well as what they’ve done in the past.”

DeWitt said Norris, the ninth political speaker the organization has brought to campus this semester, will also encourage students to become more involved in politics.

College Republicans will host Republican Tennessee gubernatorial candidate and mayor of Knoxville Bill Haslam on Thursday, October 21, at 8:30 a.m. in the UC Theatre.
