The Tipton County Commission on Aging (TCCA) received a much anticipated surprise on Tuesday.

Andy Rubin of Mid-South Bus Center, delivered two new and desperately needed buses for the seniors citizens of Tipton County.

The buses were bought with various grants, including a $39,000 Governor Enhancement grant given by Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris (R).

The buses will replace two vans, a 1995 14-passenger and a 1999 10-passenger.

The new buses, both wheelchair equipped, are a 10-passenger Ford E450 and a Ford E350 and can accommodate 10 and 14 passengers respectively.

“We’re so excited,” said Molly Egg, Assistant Executive Director of TCCA.

“These new buses mean reliable transportation for our seniors,” added Margaret Fleming, Executive Director of TCCA. “It also means less annual expense on maintenance, safety and dependability. They are an important part of our mission of promoting independence. I want to thank everyone who was instrumental in helping us receive these new buses.”
