Macon-Hall students garner awards

On Jan. 22 Shelby County Council Parent Teacher Association held its third annual Student Awards Ceremony.

This ceremony included a Reflections Contest, Citizenship Essay Contest and Safety Poster Contest winners from the entire county.

There were several winners from Macon-Hall Elementary School in Cordova.

The Division 2 Reflections contest winners from Macon-Hall were Ethan Wanzer for first place in photography; Marina Law for first place in music and honorable mention in visual arts. The Division 3 Reflections winner was Nicholas Vonprachanh in second place for literature.

Citizenship awards were presented to Marina Law for first place in Division 1 and Kelsy White for first place in Division 3.

Finally the Safety Poster Awards were given to Rylee Smith for first place in Division 2 and Kaleb Young in second place for Division 3.

County Mayor A C Wharton, Sen. Mark Norris and Sheriff Mark Luttrell were the award presenters. The winning entries are forwarded to the state level for judging.
