Norris Advances Penitentiary Project April 10, 2007 NASHVILLE ---State Senator Mark Norris (R-Collierville) moved approval of the $5.7 million expansion of the West Tennessee State Penitentiary at Ft. Pillow on April 9. “We have waited for this project for years. It is overdue,” said Norris before the Select Oversight Committee on Corrections in Nashville on April 9. The motion was approved unanimously and recognized the need for additional minimum security beds. The approval recommends an additional 150 beds for final action by the State Building Commission.
