During the event, volunteers will plant 3,000 cypress and oak seedlings to replace the bottomland hardwood forest. Sen. Mark Norris, R-Collierville, will join the efforts at 1 p.m. Saturday. Participants are encouraged to bring water, sack lunches, gloves and shovels. |
Organized by the Tennessee Environmental Council, the Little Garden Club and the Wolf River Conservancy, Conservancy director Keith Kirkland said the tree campaign is part of a $12.5 million Wolf River restoration project. |
